EPC Volunteers

Enriching Lives with Everyday Acts of Kindness

EPC volunteers are a group of dedicated people who make a difference to our clients and their families every single day.

They are accepted into our clients’ homes at a time of huge vulnerability.

All this work happens during business hours – Monday – Friday and volunteers need to use their own cars to get to their clients’ homes.

We value our strong team of volunteers and provide full training, ongoing support and mentoring.

Home Support

Home Support Everyday acts of Kindness Our clients find that with the progression of their illness their social world decreases in size.  They may not feel as confident about going out on their own any longer.  Our carers also get very tired and are unable to find time to do the things that must happen […]

Biography A word before I go EPC is very proud of its award-winning biography program. Our biography volunteers work one on one with our clients allowing them to tell their story.  The process of storytelling enables messages, philosophies, beliefs, memories and culture to pass from one person to the next.  Many clients also report a […]

Smile Makers

Smile Makers – put a smile on the dial EPC Photography volunteers visit clients for a session of creating beautiful images.  This takes place in the client’s home or at a site of the client’s choosing (within our catchment area).  Once the visit is complete the photographer will email the client digital images for their […]

Carer Support

Carer Support Are you ok? Our carers are doing an amazing job in looking after the person in their home who is not well. Understandably though they get tired, stressed or find they have no time to take care of the weekly things that must happen in order for a household to function. This is […]

Hugmakers A gift Our Hugmakers volunteers make beautiful quilts, rugs,  and beanies for our clients, carers, their pets and their families.  It is a practical way of showing them that we care and reminding them that they are not alone. This gift has moved many clients, some of whom have never had anything hand made […]

Administration Our administration volunteers assist in the office in a variety of ways – ensuring client folders are made up and ready to go, preparing brochures, caring for our EPC plants, making up journal tools and biography packs, writing cards and letters for our bereaved carers. Sign up to become a volunteer with EPC Administration […]

Bereavement Tell me about them Once a loved one has died their carers are left in a very lonely space. The world as they knew it has changed and they have to learn what this new world is all about. Who they are in the new world and how they are to perform simple tasks […]

Palliative Paws

Palliative Paws Walkies! Animals are a significant support system for our clients. They are very much a part of the family network and bring their own brand of ‘happy’ into the home. As our clients get weaker they are unable to continue to exercise their dogs as they once did and that is where our […]

Transport Relax and let me drive Many of our clients and their families are exhausted by the endless amount of medical appointments they are required to attend.  Paying for taxis is expensive and public transport is often out of the question – given how frail our clients can be. This is where our volunteers can […]
